About Orchard House
I'm CC the owner and founder of Escape 2 Richmond, a company I started back in 2005!
In 2018 I sold my two bedroomed holiday cottage to focus on creating Orchard House the luxury holiday home it is today. Orchard House is located in the heart of Richmond, Yorkshire. The beautiful market town has regularly appeared in the top ten places in the UK with the best lifestyle. They say your home is your castle - we have one of the best castles in the UK!
Being a market town, Richmond has an abundance of local provenance. As a "Richmond Lass" I love to daily shop at the "butchers, bakers and candlestick makers" among the many quirky independent shops, art galleries and love the Saturday market. I consider myself blessed to have spent the last 19 years doing just that as a mother. If you are looking for a holiday with a slower pace of life then Richmond is for you!
When I moved back to my home town of Richmond, Yorkshire I wanted to bring up my family "the old fashioned way" baking together, eating around the table together, walking together every day, creating new traditions in the wonderful garden here sledging down the hill in the garden in the winter, annual BBQs with water slides in the summer, building dens (or igloos) and creating treehouses. Picking apples straight off the old trees left from the original orchard. Learning to ride bikes on the drive. Orchard house has everything!
Time is precious, and in 2017 I received life changing news that I had a rare form of breast cancer. Orchard House was the best home to retreat and recover in. It took me three years to recover then I made the decision to leave and move to a smaller home.
Our home is now your home. It's perfect to escape your day to day and celebrate life itself be it reconnecting with friends and family. The quirky layout which spans over three floors and large garden makes it ideal for generations to stay together yet still has an intimate feel to enjoy some private time. Drive through the secure farm gate into the walled garden which envelopes you with its privacy - I guarantee you will be revitalised before you leave. Play a game of pool or find a board game in the games room, make your barista-style coffee from Starbucks or Costa. Watch an old movie on one of two big screens - I could go on. You only need to leave to go on one of the many local walks along the lush verdant fields and Billy Bank Woods that run close to the River Swale. Children can take the fishing nets and in winter months the sledges!
The garden is magical - have a nap on the huge outdoor sofa, take a dip in our gorgeous new hot tub, share stories around the fire pit, look up at the starry skies and listen to the owl hooting. Stay and make your own traditions and memories - we still use the house for our own milestone events: my sister's 60th in January this year, in 2019 I celebrated my 50th "after party" in the super kitchen/diner and held my son's 16th bbq the same year with a resident DJ in the garden!
